Innovation, key to a success story

Primatech was founded in 1984. That was the year that Jean-Paul Dion turned his manufacturing expertise to the challenge of creating premium quality flooring nails and tools. As an expert metal craftsman and noted developer of industrial machinery and equipment, he was determined to provide professionals of the trade with a hardwood flooring fastening system that surpassed anything ever made before. Today, Primatech's products are used in countries all over the world.

Success leads to growth

Through this strong market presence, the manufacturing facility has undergone several expansions over the years and a complete re-tooling to become a fully integrated manufacturer. State-of-the-art CNC machines and high-performing stamping methods ensure top quality products are delivered to customers, time after time.

A complete product line

The Primatech product line includes manual and pneumatic mallet-operated hardwood floor nailers that are a perfect match for Asian, European, North and South American wood flooring products. Complementing the tool line is an imposing array of regular and stainless steel fasteners, specifically designed to allow wood floors to perform at their best.

Leading the way to innovation

Primatech's R&D team has long been at the forefront of the industry, releasing new products that enhance quality and ease of installation. Their passion has led to numerous patented innovations such as Primatech's exclusive air valve system, jam-free manual nailers, and "Quick-Lock" adjustable adapter plates. In their continued quest for innovation, the research staff work closely with customers, trade professionals, and the entire Primatech team.

Where expertise and commitment combine

Knowledgeable and efficient office staff promptly field inquiries, lending assistance with service, sales, and freight. They're always eager to go above and beyond the call of duty to meet your expectations. And as a further commitment to the advancement and promotion of wood flooring. Primatech contributes personnel and materials to a variety of training programs.

Make Primatech your first choice

For performance, quality, and total dedication to flooring excellence, Primatech is your first and best choice.

Designing for productivity

Primatech introduced in 1989 the P200 Pneumatic Nailer. Because of its unique and innovative design, it quickly became the first pneumatic nailer to be accepted and appreciated by the installers. Its patented firing valve, actuated by a hammer blow, is so simple that it can hardly break or misfire. Sturdy, with high quality Teflon coated rings, the P200 and its successor P210 required very little maintenance and do not require high technical skills to service.

A compact firing valve setting a new standard in performance

The introduction in 2004 of the new P240 Hi-Performance flooring nailer brought a significant improvement upon the industry standard P210 nailer. Its advanced compact firing valve optimizes job efficiency by getting the installer 4½" closer to the end wall - up to two additional boards closer!

The heart of this new tool is an innovative hi-speed discharge valve, with reduced air consumption, operating at lower air pressure, yet delivering more power, independently of the striking force. It was designed for low and easy maintenance; opening the head and valve assembly requires only one standard Allen wrench!

the new air valve technology

Introducing in 2007 the most advanced technology (US & foreign patent pending) yet embedded in a pneumatic tool.

Primatech's exclusive New Generation air valve retains all the features found in our compact valve, such as its compactness, its powerful & smooth operation and its low air consumption.

The new NG valve design goes another step further, allowing easy & quick access to all internal components, which are either snapped together or screw on each other, without the need of any tool. A single Allen wrench conveniently stored on the tool is all what's necessary to perform most adjustments or maintenance on the tool.

Partner with the hardwood flooring manufacturers

designing to fit the new trend in hardwood flooring

In the 1980s and early 1990s, hardwood flooring manufacturers developed new lines of pre-finished floorings, first with V-grooved bevels, then with micro-V edges and now with nearly square edges. Particularly with the thinner solid floorings, many manufacturers were facing the problem that the pre-finished surface was often damaged at the edges with conventional installation methods.

Working closely with the flooring manufacturers, Primatech introduced in 1992 a new-style base for its manual nailer Q500 designed for thin solid floorings. This new nailer base (also called nailer shoe) has the tool resting onto a plastic base and feature a special attachment resting on the tongue of the flooring. It prevented damage to flooring by avoiding any steel contact with the pre-finished surface and by guiding the to on the tongue of the boards.

In the late 1990s, new engineered floorings were developed by many flooring manufacturers. These flooring are made from many ply's, more often one thin layer of solid wood on top of several ply's of a softer core. This type of flooring is very sensitive to damage during installation.

Again, Primatech innovated by developing the first plastic base resting completely onto the subflooring, contacting the flooring only at the tongue. Its unique design also makes it the first plastic base including a built-in tapping block.

Introduced in 1997, the R600 Nailer, replaced later with the R610 model, were both designed specifically for the installation of engineered floorings. They were the first nailers to avoid all contact with the surface, resting onto the subfloor and against the tongue and designed to act as a tapping block. The newer R610 also features a QUICK-LOCK mechanism to fit perfectly and instantly to most profiles.

Improved milling technology allowed flooring manufacturers to offer micro-beveled and square-edge products. The TRAK-EDGE was introduced in 2003. Fitting existing P210/220 and H330/300 nailers, this accessory uses 85% of its surface to push against the tongue, avoiding contact with the top edge. Its exclusive design feature a spring loaded mount and integrated tapping block.

We introduced in 2007 an innovative adjustable base plate. The use a dual-action cam and screw-adjustable resting block allows for infinite adjustment resulting in a perfect positioning of the nail into the nail pocket of the board. Faster installation, superior comfort & less fatigue, accurate, non-marking bearings - all providing smooth and effortless sliding of the tool along board edge

This bearing-mounted non-marking rollers fully adjustable base was designed exclusively for gym & large surfaces installations.

Addressing both professionals and DIY

Primatech has commercialized in 1992 the H330 manual nailer. This tool could use either L-shape and T-shape nails, but its main feature is that is allows Multiple-Hits to completely countersink a nail. Striking a  second time increases considerably the risk of bending the nail.

In 1999, Primatech patented a very clever nail guide system that supports the nail both front and back during the Multiple-Hits action.

The A-800 ergonomic extension handle allows to operate the nailers at a higher or lower position. It can be easily set and locked at any position, thus providing a better tool control. It improves ease and stability when sliding the tool sideways.
